John E. Enslen

Judge Enslen is married to Dianne Brown Enslen, a native of Hartwell, Georgia. The two of them met at Clemson University in the mid-1960’s where Dianne was a cheerleader and John was a football and basketball player. They are the parents of six children (Georgia, Jacob, Joshua, Jessica, Jenny, and Joseph) and the grandparents of nineteen grandchildren.

Judge Enslen, a 7th generation Elmore Countian, graduated co-valedictorian of the Wetumpka High School Class of 1965; National Honor Society; Beta Club; Spanish Club; President of the Student Government Association; President of the Elmore County Student Government Association; Quarterback of two consecutive undefeated football teams; Lettered in football, basketball, tennis, golf, and track.

He was a Distinguished Military Graduate of Clemson University in 1969; Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History; Chief Prosecutor of the Student Honor Court; Delta Kappa Alpha; Clemson Lettermen Association.

He graduated in the top 5% of his law school class at the University of Alabama Law School with a JD in 1972; Order of the Coif; Justice on the Student Honor Court; Editorial Board of the Alabama Law Review; Dean William Hepburn Scholarship Recipient; Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient, Sigma Delta Kappa.

He studied comparative law at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies in Rome, Italy, in 1971.
