John J. Schoemehl

John Schoemehl is a member of the Commercial Litigation Client Service Group. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schoemehl served as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Division, in Washington, D.C, where he successfully defended the United States in environmental and toxic tort suits brought in federal courts throughout the country. Mr. Schoemehl has also briefed cases in several courts of appeals and has successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Missouri Court of Appeals. In addition, he has second chair federal jury trial experience.

From 2008 to 2009, Mr. Schoemehl served as a law clerk to the Honorable Deborah L. Cook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Mr. Schoemehl received his law degree from Washington University in 2008, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Law Review, earned the Samuel M. Breckenridge Book Award for Excellence in Legal Writing, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and completed a judicial clerkship externship with Judge William D. Stiehl of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
