John Dyro is a senior counsel in Holland & Knight's Jacksonville office and represents lenders, borrowers, buyers and sellers in connection with financing, purchasing and selling real estate, including portfolio and syndicated loans. Mr. Dyro's experience includes deals collateralized by retail centers and malls, mixed-use properties, office buildings, hotels, industrial facilities, skilled nursing facilities, condominium projects with assisted living options, as well as other large residential developments. Mr. Dyro has also represented financial institutions in secured and unsecured loan transactions, asset-based financings, acquisition financings, mezzanine financings and other types of credit, and healthcare clients in financial transactions (both lenders and borrowers).

Mr. Dyro began his legal career with a large international law firm, where he represented lenders making real estate loans for the CMBS market. In 2009, he served as senior counsel to a large Pittsburgh-based financial services company's real estate bank, where he supported commercial real estate lenders across several states. As in-house counsel, Mr. Dyro provided guidance to lenders and credit officers on structuring transactions, regulatory issues and how to address changing market conditions when documenting deals. He also advised executive management on the acquisition and integration of other banks and other banks' real estate loan portfolios, including structuring bids for purchasing real estate loan portfolios and negotiating purchase and sale agreements; managed a large network of outside legal counsel, advising on the bank's approach to various issues and analyzing law firm performance; and coordinated a team of both in-house and outside lawyers in developing a comprehensive set of form loan documents.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Dyro worked in healthcare administration, first as a financial analyst for a large integrated healthcare system, then later in managed care contracting for a national health insurance provider and new business development for a startup physician practice management company specializing in Medicare risk contracting.
