Jon B. Hyland is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Intellectual Property Department in the Dallas office. He concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation matters in a wide range of technologies.
Having represented domestic and international companies, Mr. Hyland advises clients in patent licensing and patent portfolio monetization. He has gained experience in a range of technological areas, including Internet commerce, computer hardware and software, semiconductor and semiconductor processing and packaging, telecommunications networking and cellular communications, solid state memory and biotechnology. Mr. Hyland has handled matters before federal and state courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Mr. Hyland advises clients regarding trademark, copyright and trade secret issues ranging from litigation to licensing. He also advises clients in intellectual property issues relating to mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Hyland has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2014 and 2015. In 2012, he was one of seven intellectual property attorneys nationwide recognized as a BTI Client Service All-Star.
After graduating with a B.S., cum laude, from Texas A&M University and a M.S. from The University of Chicago, Mr. Hyland earned his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Texas School of Law. In law school, he was an editor of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity.
