Joseph M. Sauer

Joe Sauer's practice focuses on the development and management of international patent portfolios, freedom-to-practice opinions, patent reexamination, prelitigation and general IP counseling, and patent litigation. In addition to his patent practice, Joe has experience in trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation.

Joe has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including Bridgestone, Carnegie Mellon University, ClearCount Medical Solutions, Eastman Kodak, Gennum, Goliath Solutions, IBM, Marvell, MIM Software, Research In Motion, SAS Institute, and Visa.

Before attending law school, Joe worked as a test engineer at Compunetix, Inc. in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for the analysis and testing of digital and analog systems, including multimedia multipoint telecommunication systems. Joe also serves on the board of RePlay for Kids, which is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who repair and adapt toys and assistive devices for children with disabilities in Northeast Ohio.
