Joshua D. Jordon

Joshua Jordon is a partner in Dentons’ Capital Markets practice and a member of the Firm's Capital Markets regulatory team. Josh's practice focuses on the federal, state and local consumer credit laws that impact domestic and foreign banking institutions, mortgage lenders and servicers, Wall Street institutions, hedge funds, private equity funds, financial technology companies and third-party due diligence firms.

On the federal level, these laws include the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB), and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), including the rules published by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), as well as the requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development/Federal Housing Administration (HUD/FHA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. On the state level, Josh regularly counsels clients on anti-predatory lending laws, licensing statutes and other requirements that govern consumer and commercial credit products. Josh also has significant experience representing market participants before federal and state regulatory authorities with respect to examinations, and supervisory and enforcement actions.

Prior to joining Dentons, Josh served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Compliance Officer of American Mortgage Consultants (AMC), one of Wall Street's largest third-party due diligence and consulting firms. While at AMC, he regularly advised on complex federal, state and local mortgage and consumer finance compliance issues related to a variety of activities and transactions, including the securitization of newly originated and non-performing/re-performing mortgage loans, the sale and acquisition of whole loans and mortgage servicing rights and the evaluation of compliance risk management systems. Prior to AMC, Josh held senior in-house counsel positions with a national, publicly-traded servicer, originator and purchaser of residential mortgage loans and consumer assets on the secondary market.

Josh’s extensive in-house counsel experience has provided him with a unique perspective on risk assessment, and how regulatory requirements are integrated and implemented within investment strategies, business processes and technology systems.
