Julia Jacobson is a partner in Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Boston office. Her practice focuses on advertising, marketing and promotions, data privacy and protection and licensing. She has significant experience counseling clients in the technology and consumer products goods industries.

Ms. Jacobson advises clients in traditional marketing and advertising campaigns, as well as internet, mobile, social media, telemarketing, text message and email marketing and promotions. She also drafts and negotiates co-branding, sponsorship, commercial coventure and other agreements associated with the advertising, marketing and promotion of products and services.

Ms. Jacobson regularly counsels clients on data privacy, security, transfer and acquisition, as well as the design and development of internal and externally-facing privacy-sensitive policies for collection and use of personal data, incident response, information governance, and vendor management. Ms. Jacobson’s particular expertise is on helping businesses manage and monetize their data. She also frequently assists clients with privacy and security audits and data privacy and protection issues associated with business sales, combinations and acquisitions.

Ms. Jacobson counsels clients on legal and business issues related to technology licensing and transactions, She has extensive experience drafting and negotiating joint development, SaaS, end-user, enterprise, hosting, mobile application and other technology-centric agreements. Ms. Jacobson also has extensive experience with electronic contracting and record management issues.

Ms. Jacobson earned the designations of Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She also serves on the IAPP’s Publications Advisory Board.
