JUSTIN SAVAGE has focused his practice on environmental law and advocacy for more than 20 years. His clients include refiners, producers, OEMs, suppliers and other heavily regulated companies that face environmental scrutiny and claims. Companies and trade associations turn to Justin for representation in environmental enforcement defense, internal investigations and strategic counseling, particularly under the Clean Air Act Title I (stationary sources), RMP and Title II (mobile sources, RFS and fuels). Justin also represents clients on litigation and compliance matters across the spectrum of U.S. environmental, transportation and administrative laws including PHMSA proceedings, CSB investigations, CERCLA litigation, APA claims, defense of Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act actions, FOIA suits, TSCA - RRP, Motor Vehicle Safety Act investigations, NEPA defense and FACA claims. Prior to joining Sidley, Justin worked as an environmental partner at a large international firm where he earned national recognition for his environmental litigation, trial advocacy work, and strategic counseling. He served for nearly a decade at the Environmental Enforcement Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he litigated complex cases under several environmental statutes.
Justin is ranked in Chambers USA for District of Columbia, Environment, and has been in The Legal 500 United States: Environment: Litigation. He teaches basic civil trial advocacy at the National Advocacy Center and is a faculty member at the American Law Institute’s Environmental Litigation Course.
