Karen E. Silverman is the Managing Partner of Latham’s San Francisco office, Co-chair of the Information Technology Industry Group and a member of the global Antitrust and Competition Practice.

Ms. Silverman handles antitrust representations of all sorts, with a focus on global competition matters – primarily complex strategic mergers – as well as cartel defense and commercial pricing and distribution issues. She represents a wide range of enterprise and young companies on their domestic and international competition matters, works closely with corporate and litigation partners and has particular expertise in the high technology, biotechnology, consumer products, entertainment, media, health care and retail industries.

Before joining Latham, Ms. Silverman worked at the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division as Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General, and in the Foreign Commerce Section. In 1993, she returned to private practice, and to the Bay Area in 1996.

Ms. Silverman was recently named one of the "Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business" by the San Francisco Business Times. She was also named among the "Top 100 Lawyers in California" in 2009 by the Daily Journal, with the newspaper calling her "a corporate antitrust extraordinaire" who has advised on "a staggering number of huge deals." Additionally, she has been recognized as one of "California's Top Women Litigators" by the Daily Journal (2008-2014), as a leading California Antitrust attorney by Chambers USA (2006-2014) and also as one of "California's Leading Competition Practitioners" by Who's Who Legal: California (2007-2013).
