Kellyn J. W. Muller is a member of the firm and office managing partner vice chair of the West Palm Beach, Fla., office. She practices with the Global Insurance Group. Kellyn joined the firm in September 2002, practicing in the firm’s Philadelphia office from 2002 through 2006, and the firm’s Cherry Hill, N.J., office from 2007 through 2013. Kellyn joined the firm’s West Palm Beach office in August 2013 as part of the firm’s growth and expansion in Florida.
Kellyn focuses her practice in the area of first-party property insurance coverage under commercial property and personal lines policies. She has analyzed, litigated and provided opinions to insurance company clients on a wide variety of insurance coverage issues involving policy formation, loss exclusions, policyholder cooperation, mortgagee rights and obligations, claim valuation, catastrophic claim handling, and bad faith. Kellyn also has experience defending a variety of other commercial litigation matters, including premises liability and catastrophic personal injury defense involving high liability exposure.
Kellyn has authored several articles and white papers and is a frequent speaker at industry events and in-house client seminars on a variety of property insurance topics, including: bad faith; the recovery of consequential loss and damages; the impact of Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Katrina on the insurance industry; the effect of the economic downturn on claim investigation and insurance recovery; Chinese-Drywall claims; and first party property insurance coverage implications of the Gulf of Mexico BP Oil Spill. Kellyn is a contributing author of the Property Insurance Litigator's Handbook - second edition, a 580-page manual published by the American Bar Association addressing the practical evaluation of issues that arise in litigating a property insurance claim. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Kellyn was designated a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer – Rising Star” by Law & Politics in the area of Insurance Coverage.
Kellyn presently serves as committee chair of the Property Insurance Law Committee of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. Kellyn has been a member of the Property Insurance Law Committee since 2004, serving as a vice chair since 2007. Kellyn received her Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. In 2002, she received her law degree, with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, N.J. During law school, Kellyn served as an extern for the Hon. Joseph H. Rodriguez, Senior Judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
