Kirsten Polyansky

Kirsten Polyansky’s practice is the blend of a physical oil lawyer and a commodities finance lawyer. This means that Kirsten is just as comfortable assisting clients by digging into the commercial details associated with buying, selling and handling physical oil as she is serving as lead deal counsel for complex financing arrangements spanning several time zones.

Kirsten joined Haynes and Boone after serving as in-house counsel for almost a decade, most recently focusing on the commodities operations of a global investment bank. As a result, Kirsten approaches her practice and clients with a fresh and very real perspective on what it means to serve in an in-house legal role with often strapped resources, pressing business demands, intense time constraints, all in an aggressive regulatory environment. Kirsten believes that her clients demand and deserve quality work product that is generated with a laser focus on being pragmatic, commercial, on-time and on-budget.

Kirsten has developed a truly unique skill set and strong reputation working on commodity inventory monetization and intermediation structures particularly involving crude oil and refined products. With years of experience in this space, one of Kirsten’s notable deals is a US$900+ million dollar inventory monetization transaction for a refinery in the United Kingdom. This deal was the largest of its kind in Europe and included a complex, on-going exclusive crude supply arrangement, CSO ticketing obligations and product intermediation components.
