Lawrence E. James

Lee is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group. His practice focuses on litigating patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright and unfair competition matters before the U.S. federal courts, the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. In addition, Lee’s practice includes obtaining patents and clearing new products for a wide range of mechanical, electromechanical, Internet and e-commerce technologies, as well as obtaining trademarks and copyrights. Lee also counsels clients regarding domain name disputes, technology licensing and transfer transactions, rights of publicity and rights to privacy matters.

Prior to obtaining his legal degree, Lee worked as a product engineer and a manufacturing engineer with Johnson Controls in its Automotive Interiors Division, working with a wide range of technologies, including thermistors, switches, dome lamps, magnets, wire harnesses, injection molding and insert molding technologies, poured and cast polyurethane foam, energy absorbing impact devices, laminating, thermoforming, and water-jet cutting technologies.
