Leslie R. Katz

Leslie R. Katz focuses her practice on a variety of areas involving government law and policy, including energy, telecommunications, healthcare, clean technology, land use, construction, information technology, infrastructure, development and Public-Private partnerships. She helps her clients reach their goals by providing linkages that optimize the political, legal, community and business context in which they operate. Her ability to provide strategic counsel, for startups to Fortune 500 companies and public entities, comes from her diverse experiences in the public and private sectors.

Leslie has had a long career in public service. She is a former Member of the Board of Supervisors for the City and County of San Francisco where she represented the citizens of San Francisco in the legislative branch of the City’s government, serving as Chair and/or Vice Chair of numerous committees. As a Board Member she drafted and passed significant legislation related to technology, environment, economic development, human rights and labor, including the groundbreaking Equal Benefits Ordinance. She was also an elected member of the San Francisco Community College Board of Trustees and has served on the Port Commission of San Francisco.

In addition to her roles in the public sector, Leslie served as the Regional Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for a Fortune 250 energy services company, as well as having held executive roles with other technology companies. She was also involved in the Pacific Carbon Exchange during its inception, giving her an insider’s view of the cap and trade issues within California. Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors, Leslie had her own law firm.
