Suite 1000
Washington, District Of Columbia 20004
United States
Lisa Shallue practices employee benefit law as Of Counsel in the Washington DC office. Before beginning her legal practice, she worked for a multi-employer pension plan administrator for ten years reviewing all aspects of pension claims administration. Since transitioning from the administrative to the legal side of the industry in 2000, Lisa has developed broad experience representing both small and large (public and privately held) employers and governmental entities on a variety of compliance-related matters impacting all types of employee benefit plans.
Lisa has advised clients on design and administration issues related to tax-qualified retirement plans (401(k) plans, pension plans, ESOPs and cash balance plans), welfare plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans and other executive compensation matters. In recent years, she has concentrated her practice more narrowly on health and welfare benefits working on emerging ACA and other laws (e.g., ERISA, IRC, COBRA, HIPAA) impacting group health plans for active and retired employees, cafeteria plans, wellness programs, HRAs, HSAs, health and dependent care FSAs and employee assistance plans. Most recently, before joining Troutman Sanders in 2014, Lisa worked in-house experience with a national insurance brokerage firm – serving as a compliance resource to employee benefit insurance producers and consultants.
