Lisa Orrantia concentrates her practice in real estate matters involving the NYC Zoning Resolution, NYC Construction Codes, and NYS Multiple Dwelling Law. Prior to joining Akerman, she served as an Assistant General Counsel at the New York City Department of Buildings for 14 years, and appeared before the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals in cases involving the revocation of certificates of occupancy, vested rights, and appeals from Department determinations. As an advisor to the Department's Zoning and Code Task Force, she helped resolve a variety of land use issues to facilitate compliant development, and reviewed the Department's public notices clarifying operational, technical, and legal policy and procedure. She has experience working closely with the Office Corporation Counsel and legal divisions in other City agencies, including the Department of City Planning, Landmarks Preservation Commission, Department of Finance, and Department of Environmental Protection.
