Anderson Berry focuses on complex civil litigation and international arbitration, with a particular focus on defending multinational corporations against claims related to events in foreign countries, as well as to RICO, the Alien Tort Statute, fraud, and unfair competition law in the U.S. Anderson also has extensive experience with implementing and managing large scale discovery efforts that involve complicated eDiscovery and cross-border issues.
He is currently advising Chevron with respect to a $19 billion judgment from Ecuador, which includes U.S. litigation, transnational discovery pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 1782, foreign litigation and enforcement proceedings, and Bilateral Investment Treaty arbitration. Anderson was a member of the trial team that achieved a full defense verdict on numerous Alien Tort Statute claims, which was ranked as the top California defense verdict in 2008 by the Daily Journal. Anderson’s pro bono practice focuses on prisoners' rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, and on animal rights issues for the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
Anderson was the assistant managing editor of the World Arbitration & Mediation Review from 2008-2013, and is the co-chair of the International Practice Section of the San Francisco Bar Association’s Barristers Club. Before practicing law, Anderson worked as a private investigator in the San Francisco Bay Area.
