Marc Cohen
is a founding partner of the IP Group for the Palo Alto office. Previously, Marc was a partner in the Firm's Los Angeles office. He is a patent litigator and has been lead counsel in cases in various federal courts throughout the country. Marc assists clients in all areas of intellectual property litigation and provides clients strategic advice regarding intellectual property.
He has served as lead counsel in a variety of patent matters and was selected as one of the "Top 75 IP Litigators" by the Los Angeles & San Francisco Daily Journal in 2009. Marc has worked on complex cases involving various technologies including electronic commerce and distributed database software, semiconductor and wireless communication devices, medical devices and procedures, imaging systems, computer peripherals, mobile telecommunications, RFID, food product processing, camera motion control, and other high-tech technologies. Marc has represented clients in various courts and has been involved in both bench and jury trials. He is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell ("lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence").
In a multi-faceted intellectual property trial in 2004, Marc, with others on the trial team, successfully obtained a jury verdict of $570 million, for which he was recognized in the December 2004 edition of The American Lawyer, the January 2005 edition of Corporate Counsel and the August 2005 edition of IP Law & Business.
