Marc L. Antonecchia

Marc L. Antonecchia is a partner in Holland & Knight's New York Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Antonecchia has a broad litigation practice, with particular emphasis on aviation, commercial, product liability and insurance matters.

Mr. Antonecchia's experience in aviation-related matters includes commercial and mass tort litigation. He represents domestic and foreign lessors and secured parties in numerous purchase and lease contract disputes and repossessions involving airframes, engines and parts. In 2012, he co-authored a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief concerning the preemptive effect of a federal statute affording liability protection to lessors and secured parties. He defends airlines in aviation disaster litigation and is part of the team representing Air France in multidistrict litigation arising out of the Flight 447 accident in the mid-Atlantic Ocean.

He is an editor of Holland & Knight's aviation newsletter, Centerline, and has authored and contributed to several articles concerning maintenance, regulatory, commercial, passenger rights, lessor liability issues and the enforcement of the Cape Town Convention.

Mr. Antonecchia counsels clients on product liability and warranty issues for a variety of products, including toys, furniture, medical devices and heavy equipment, and he has authored articles in this area. He prepares and revises product instruction manuals and warning labels for use in the U.S. market and provides advice on the enforcement of trademark rights.

Mr. Antonecchia's litigation experience includes pretrial discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial and appellate argument. In addition to his aviation practice, he litigates commercial disputes encompassing a wide array of disciplines, including petroleum products, works of art, satellites and computer software. He acted as co-trial counsel to the prevailing defendant in a federal court trial, reported at 567 F. Supp. 2d 579 (S.D.N.Y. 2008), aff'd, 336 Fed. Appx. 39, 2009 WL 1940715 (2d Cir. July 2, 2009), concerning a dispute arising out of an alleged breach of an aircraft purchase agreement. The trial resulted in a defense verdict, which was affirmed on appeal, with a multi-million dollar fee award for the defendant. Mr. Antonecchia co-authored the appellate brief. He also successfully argued a commercial lease dispute before the New York Appellate Division, First Department, reported at 78 A.D.3d 431 (1st Dept. 2010).

Mr. Antonecchia attended Fordham University School of Law and was a member of the Fordham International Law Journal and a teaching assistant in the legal research and writing course.
