Recently, Mareasa coordinated a team of Jones Day lawyers from the Atlanta and New York offices to research and draft a legal memorandum for the Public International Law & Policy Group providing recommendations to the Seychelles government for amending its penal code to support the prosecution of pirate financiers residing outside the Seychelles. In addition, Mareasa helped secure a grant of asylum for a client fleeing persecution based on his sexual orientation, and she received a Safe Haven award from Immigration Equality for excellence in pro bono representation.
