Marie Lefere is a partner in Holland & Knight's Fort Lauderdale office. Ms. Lefere practices in the South Florida Litigation Group with an emphasis in professional liability, product liability and commercial litigation. Ms. Lefere's experience includes mass tort litigation and defense of class action litigation. Ms. Lefere has been trial counsel in defense of publicly traded and privately held industrial manufacturing, healthcare and IT companies involved in complex commercial, professional liability and product liability litigation matters. With eight years of experience as an operating room Registered Professional Nurse, she has handled lead defense of numerous nurses, physicians and physical therapists in medical malpractice actions and has acted as personal counsel to physicians with medical staff issues. She represents healthcare management companies, a national dialysis company and health maintenance organizations in medical negligence and commercial litigation matters.

Ms. Lefere served as Florida liaison counsel for large national law firms, managing mass tort, product liability, medical device and pharmaceutical litigation throughout the state. She has prosecuted and defended lawsuits in state and federal courts for manufacturers, healthcare clients, IT companies and residential developers for product liability, insurance coverage, professional liability and contractual claims. She has defended institutional clients against alleged violations of the consumer protection laws. She has represented multi-national clients in creatively resolving complex business disputes. Ms. Lefere has counseled manufacturing clients in pre-market phase in warnings and labeling issues, drafting user guides, consumer instructions, warning labels, indemnification agreements and purchase invoice documentation.
