Mario J. Verdolini

Mr. Verdolini is a member of Davis Polk’s Tax Department and is the coordinator of the firm’s tax controversy and tax risk management practices. He advises multinational corporations in the consumer products, financial, manufacturing, media and pharmaceutical industries on a broad range of tax matters, including controversy, risk management and cross-border structuring, as well as international mergers, joint ventures, acquisitions, spinoffs and reorganizations.

His tax controversy experience includes litigation matters, administrative proceedings, alternative dispute resolution and risk management. He recently led a team to a complete victory in the Court of Federal Claims and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in a tax treaty case. He is currently representing clients before the IRS in transfer pricing, cross-border debt-equity, domestic manufacturing deduction, and financial products matters. He has settled tax disputes involving a variety of tax issues, including international transfer pricing and other cross-border tax questions. He also has represented clients in internal, governmental and grand jury investigations into tax matters.

Mr. Verdolini also plays a lead role in our pro bono tax practice and has advised on numerous matters in the exempt organizations area, including risk management projects for educational institutions and the demutualization of a stock market.
