Mark A. Harper

Dr. Mark Harper brings impressive academic credentials and practical knowledge to the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. This experience allows him to effectively counsel clients and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization. With a solid background in metals, Mark’s clients include steel products and durable goods manufacturers, as well as small and large companies in other industries, and university research and technology licensing offices.

Mark obtained multiple degrees in Metallurgical Engineering before earning his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering. The seeds of his eventual career in intellectual property law were sowed early; during his graduate studies he was selected as a B.F. Goodrich Young Inventor. He also holds his own patent, based on his doctoral research.

Prior to attending law school, Mark worked as a research engineer in the metals industry responsible for projects involving high temperature corrosion and alloy development. He also served as the principal investigator on a $2.9 million research and development project involving a collaboration between industry, university, and government participants.
