Mark J. Danielson

Mark Danielson is a partner and intellectual property lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. He has extensive experience across a variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software, network systems, microprocessors and architectures, signal processing, data communications, thin film devices and fabrication methods, computational lithography, cloud computing, and alternative energy. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings and counseling services for clients ranging from early stage start-ups and privately held businesses to Fortune 500 corporations. Mr. Danielson is a member of the firm’s Electronics Practice.

In his practice, Mr. Danielson routinely provides his clients with strategic intellectual property counseling and secures patents through the U.S. and foreign patent offices, including appeals and oral arguments before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He also performs IP diligence reviews and audits, counsels and negotiates technology transactions, including acquisitions of and licenses for IP rights, and prepares validity, clearance, right-to-use and infringement opinions.

Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Danielson served in engineering positions at IBM, Georgia Tech Research Institute, Texas Instruments and GTE Corporation. As an engineer, he gained extensive hands-on experience with technologies, including digital signal processing, embedded processors, radar systems and object-oriented software development.
