Mark J. Shean,

a senior associate in the Orange County office, is a member of the Intellectual Property Group. His current practice focuses on complex patent litigation, patent and trademark prosecution, and client counseling. Mr. Shean has represented several technology companies with respect to intellectual property issues in negotiations for complex commercial and technology agreements.

Mr. Shean has litigated cases involving a variety of technologies including medical devices, databases, optical amplifiers, molecular biology, emulation systems, website design systems, and telephony systems.

Mr. Shean has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patents in technical areas including biotechnology, medical devices, e-commerce, telecommunications and hydrocarbon processing. His experience further includes preparing requests for inter partes review and ex parte reexamination and prosecuting reexamination requests with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Shean has prosecuted trademarks and counseled clients regarding trademark rights in a variety of fields including:
