Mark Riera’s practice involves substantial trial and appellate work in a broad array of industries, including motor vehicles, banking, and transportation.

Mark defended a prominent Japanese pharmaceutical corporation and its United States subsidiary against allegations of price-fixing actions in federal courts across the US, in 23 state courts, in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court.

He also represented the Securities Investor Protection Corporation in a landmark securities fraud action in the United States Supreme Court.

Mark has extensive experience litigating class and individual actions on claims of wage-and-hour violations in federal and state courts throughout California. He defended a leading US ground-shipping service in putative class actions across California that on behalf of tens of thousands of employees alleged wage misclassification of managers, denial of meal and rest breaks, unpaid work off the clock and waiting time penalties. Mark has defeated class certification and obtained favorable outcomes for numerous companies.

Mark successfully sued local governmental entities to allow a major US airline to operate at John Wayne Airport in Orange County and Long Beach Airport.

He has successfully defended putative class actions that alleged motorcycle manufacturing defects.
