Martin P. Duffey joined the firm in May 1989 and practices in the Philadelphia office's Subrogation & Recovery Department. He served as hiring partner for Cozen O'Connor from 2003 through 2005, improving the ranking of the firm's Summer Associate Program from near last in the nation to number one and two in consecutive years. He was also actively engaged in the firm's nationwide expansion efforts, and was part of the team that opened Cozen O'Connor's new offices in Houston and New York City.
Martin concentrates his practice in complex litigation matters, including products liability, fire and flood losses, construction defects, premises liability, immigration, bodily injury and medical malpractice. He has successfully litigated cases throughout the United States on behalf of clients who have suffered catastrophic personal, property and business income losses.
Martin is active in the community having served the office of the mayor as an advisor to a study on neighborhood revitalization as part of Philadelphia's 21st Century Review Forum. He served as president of the board of directors of the Upper Main Line YMCA, Berwyn Branch, and also served as a director of the Upper Main Line YMCA's Association Board and a member of its Strategic Planning Committee
A graduate of St. Joseph's University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1986), Martin earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law (J.D., 1989) and his master of laws degree in Trial Advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law (LL.M., 2010). While at Emory, he was a member of the Moot Court Society's Special Teams and, along with a teammate, won the Polsky National Moot Court Competition, held at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1988.
