Mary L. Hale

Mary Hale has extensive experience in a broad range of complex litigation, including toxic tort, product liability, commercial, and antitrust litigation, as well as corporate criminal investigations and related civil litigation. She has particular experience in identifying and working with experts to prepare for testimony on complex scientific issues, as well as experience with discovery issues, including those relating to the attorney-client privilege and the work product doctrine.

Most recently, Mary defended IBM against hundreds of personal injury, property damage, and medical monitoring claims related to historic air emissions, groundwater contamination, and vapor intrusion near the company's former manufacturing facility in Endicott, New York. Previously she defended Wyeth in a trial involving the antidepressant Effexor, which resulted in a defense verdict, and defended IBM in multiple civil actions filed by more than 200 plaintiffs in New York and California state courts alleging that workplace exposures caused cancer and other diseases in IBM employees or birth defects in their offspring.

Mary is a member of the ABA and the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
