Matthew represents clients in litigation matters with a focus on antitrust, commercial matters, and real estate litigation. He has appeared in state and federal courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and elsewhere.

Matthew has defended clients against a variety of antitrust claims including monopolization, tying and exclusive dealing. He has also defended commercial litigation matters including contract claims and alleged food adulteration, and he has represented insureds in insurance coverage litigation.

He also has a robust practice in real estate litigation. He handled a complex partition suit to clear title to a parcel of real property with more than 60 fractional owners. Matthew tried a number of eminent domain cases, and defended a substantial inverse condemnation suit. He frequently represents clients in litigation to establish easements or quiet title, and he is proficient in equity practice in Virginia state courts.

Matthew has an active pro bono practice that includes representing indigent clients in landlord tenant matters as well as constitutional and civil liberties litigation.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Matthew worked for Microsoft Consulting Services in Washington D.C. and New York, as well as Standard and Poor's and American Business Systems.
