Matthew’s primary focus is on commercial litigation, which spans the scope of counseling clients in the amicable resolution of disputes to bringing actions in federal and state courts throughout the country. His experience includes first chairing federal court trials, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, preparing and deposing witnesses, counseling clients in ways to successfully avoid litigation, and advising clients on large land transactions and private equity purchases. He also serves as national coordinating counsel for a major transportation company.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Matthew served as intern to the Hon. Kate Ford Elliot, President Judge of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. He was a member of the National Appellate Advocacy Competition Team at Duquesne University and a finalist in the Carol Los Mansmann Appellate Moot Court Competition. He is also a recipient of CALI Awards of Excellence for Property and Legal Research and Writing. Matthew studied at The Imperial College in London while earning his bachelor's degree in English literature.

Matthew provides free legal aid to the homeless at Operation Safety Net and volunteers at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and Animal Friends.
