Matthew J. Brigham

Matthew J. Brigham is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice group and a member of Cooley's Litigation department. He joined the Firm in 2003 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.

His practice focuses on patent litigation counseling for high technology clients. He has represented clients in technologies such as wireless communications, integrated circuits, semiconductor processing, PC chipsets, video game hardware and software, e-commerce solutions, programmable semiconductor chips, and electronic design automation. Mr. Brigham services the patent litigation needs of individual inventors, emerging ventures, large corporations, and companies involved in multiple defendant patent infringement actions. Mr. Brigham also assists clients in complex commercial litigation matters involving merger and acquisition agreements.

Mr. Brigham has represented clients in arbitrations and lawsuits pending in state and federal courts throughout the country, including patent infringement trials in California, Texas, Virginia, and the International Trade Commission. He is a registered patent attorney and has been involved in patent reexamination proceedings before the Patent and Trademark Office and interference proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Mr. Brigham has also argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
