Matthew R. Divelbiss

Matt Divelbiss is a litigator whose practice focuses on insurance coverage matters. He also has extensive experience in e-discovery matters.

Matt's insurance experience includes disputes over D&O, general liability, and property policies and representations in courts throughout the country (both trial and appellate) as well as in international insurance arbitrations. He served on a team that represented Motorola in D&O litigation over a $190 million settlement that included state court litigation and two international arbitrations. In addition to litigating coverage matters, Matt regularly assists clients with insurance issues, including the placement of insurance programs and the handling of claims.

Matt's e-discovery experience includes litigation issues and general document retention advice. He coordinated the collection of documents in multiple states and across multiple computer platforms to assist a client in responding to government subpoenas. Matt is regularly consulted on matters that involve e-discovery. He has assisted in drafting numerous chapters and articles on e-discovery and has taught programs across Pennsylvania.

In addition to insurance coverage and e-discovery matters, Matt has experience with other areas of litigation, including disputes over contracts and challenges to government ordinances. He coordinates the Pittsburgh Office's protection-from-abuse pro bono program, in which attorneys assist clients in obtaining PFAs. Matt also participates in the Pittsburgh Office's outreach to veterans, and he tried a landlord-tenant dispute for a veteran to a successful verdict. He recently argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit on behalf of a pro bono client.
