Melissa F. Brill is a member in the firm's Global Insurance Department. She joined the firm in August 1996 and is resident in the New York office.

Melissa represents major professional liability, property and general liability insurers in first- and third-party insurance coverage litigation throughout the country. She litigates complex insurance coverage actions involving many issues, including bad faith, duty to defend, priority of coverage, additional insured coverage and allocation. Melissa counsels and represents insurers in a wide variety of coverage disputes, including complex commercial matters, bank failures, mass toxic torts, September 11 and Hurricane losses. Melissa also represents for-profit and non-profit entities in commercial litigation.

Melissa renders coverage opinions and advises insurers on insurance-related matters, including drafting policy provisions and assisting with claims handling programs. She also handles a wide variety of appeals for insurance and non-insurance clients.

Melissa is a former member of the Board of Directors of Homesite Insurance Company of New York, and of the Board of Directors of Big Sisters and the Young Leadership Counsel. Melissa represents pro bono clients seeking asylum and Holocaust reparations.

Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies and Japanese Language from Pennsylvania State University in 1991 and her law degree, with honors, from Temple University School of Law in 1995.
