Michael Gleason practices antitrust and competition law with a focus on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, including complex cross-border transactions, and counseling on non-merger matters. He has represented a variety of clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and state antitrust enforcers, and he has extensive experience in a broad range of industries, including health care (providers and payers), pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, chemicals, and food products, among others. Michael also has defended clients in private antitrust litigation.

Michael’s transactional work has encompassed counseling clients at every stage of a deal, from pre-merger planning, through regulatory filings, Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission investigations, and litigation as well as post-closing investigations. Significant representations include Yale-New Haven Hospital's acquisition of the Hospital of Saint Raphael (FTC File No. 111-0139) and Aetna Inc.’s acquisition of Coventry Health Care, Inc.

Michael is a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Antitrust Law and the Antitrust Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association, and has written extensively on antitrust issues for these organizations. Recently, he drafted a chapter on health plan mergers and the McCarran-Ferguson Act for ABA publications.

During law school, Michael worked at the Anticompetitive Practices Division of the Federal Trade Commission.
