Michael B. Hazzard

Mike Hazzard's experience is grounded in information technology and communications. He represents established and emerging companies seeking to develop and deploy innovative technology offerings across a wide array of industries, including advertising, consumer marketing, financial services, gaming, health care, and transportation, to name a few. This work requires him to counsel companies on cybersecurity and privacy matters, and he routinely advises companies on state, federal, and international requirements related to "Big Data" issues, including data breach, collection, storage, use, and transfer. He also has a strong background in legal matters related to Internet of Things (IoT), cloud communications, and software as a service offerings. He has particular experience in the Federal Communications Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, among others.

As a natural extension of his counseling work, Mike represents companies before regulatory agencies and in federal and state courts. He has served as lead counsel in adjudications, investigations, and rulemakings pending before the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and myriad analogous state agencies. He also has served as lead litigation counsel in federal district courts from the Eastern District of New York to the Southern District of California and many districts in between. At the federal appellate court level, Mike has argued appeals before the Third, Fourth, Ninth, and District of Columbia Circuits.

Mike routinely speaks on domestic and international technology and communications issues.
