Michael Hall is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s New York office. As a member of the Firm’s Trial Practice Group, Michael focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. He has significant experience litigating cases involving environmental product liability, breach of fiduciary duties, valuation, wrongful terminations, e-discovery issues, class action lawsuits and multi-party mass tort cases. Michael is an experienced lawyer with a vast range of experience crossing many industries, including the following: oil and gas, satellite, airline, labor and employment and finance.
Litigation Experience
Representing major energy company in class action brought by more than 700 Brooklyn residents, alleging in excess of $1 billion in damages for diminution in value and personal injury claims, and $50 billion in punitive damages, relating to a large plume of oil beneath a former refinery.
Served as counsel for international petroleum company in hundreds of MTBE product liability and contamination cases consolidated in the Southern District of New York.
Served as liaison counsel to the petroleum industry in multi-district product liability litigation.
Represented major airline in an action against a leading airplane manufacturer relating to a terminated service contract. Secured favorable settlement for client.
Represented major satellite company in an action brought by former shareholders, alleging breach of fiduciary duty, aiding and abetting, and appraisal. Secured favorable settlement.
Represented significant health care marketing company in an action brought by a former employee, alleging wrongful termination, whistleblower and wage and hour violations, and breach of contract. Secured favorable settlement through mediation.
Represented significant health care marketing company in an action brought by commercial property owner, alleging breach of contract and fraudulent conveyance. Successfully dismissed.
Represented employer in an action brought by former employee, alleging violation of New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination. Successfully obtained summary judgment.
Represented significant German manufacturer in action relating to terminated distribution agreement. Secured favorable settlement for client.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael served as law clerk to the Honorable William C. Meehan, P.J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Michael is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey. Michael received his law degree from Pace Law School in 2003, where he graduated cum laude.
