Michael Comerford is of counsel in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Financial Restructuring Group.
Mr. Comerford has extensive experience in representing debtors and creditors in reorganization cases and out-of-court workouts, as well as acquirers of financially distressed companies. His engagements have ranged across a wide array of industries, including automotive, airline, cable and broadcasting, gambling, grocery, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, project finance, retail, shipping, and telecommunications. Mr. Comerford has acted as counsel to the company, and official and unofficial committees representing key creditor constituencies, such as bondholders, agents for lender syndicates, and large debt holders. Mr. Comerford has also regularly represented hedge funds and other financial institutions acquiring control positions in financially distressed companies, both in- and out-of-court. Additionally, he has assisted prospective providers of high risk and debtor-in-possession financing in structuring, documenting and obtaining approval for such loans.
Mr. Comerford’s experience includes representing the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. et al., Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Local Insight Media Holdings, Inc. et al., Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. et al.; Reorganized Enron; Intermet Corporation and its affiliates; and PCAA Parent, LLC. Mr. Comerford has also represented parties in interest in the chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of Bicent Holdings, LLC; Flying J, Inc.; American Color Graphics, Inc.; Communications Corporation of America, White Knight Holdings, Inc. and their respective affiliates; Adelphia Communications Corporation; Apex Silver Mines Limited; and others.
