Michael J. Nooney is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the Firm’s Corporate Department. He is one of the most experienced private funds attorneys in the country, providing key advice on the organization and operation of private equity funds, hedge funds and all types of alternative asset vehicles. He also regularly represents clients in other corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyouts.
Mike has advised many private equity and hedge fund sponsors and investors including Altamont Capital, American Industrial Partners, Blum Capital, Castle Creek Capital, Fremont Partners, Glenbrook Capital, Health Revolution Partners, Hellman & Friedman, Indaba Capital, Insignia Capital, KKR, KSL Capital, Pantheon Ventures, Platinum Equity, Riverwood Capital, Rubicon Technology Partners, Sycamore Partners, Technology Crossover Ventures and Vista Equity. Mike also has advised many companies on mergers and acquisitions matters, including American Trading and Production Corporation, Bay Networks, Becton Dickinson, Dun & Bradstreet, Drugstore.com, IMS Health, MCI, Pegasus Solutions and Preview Travel. He has advised the mergers and acquisitions groups of leading investment banking firms, including Citigroup, Credit-Suisse and Goldman Sachs.
Mike joined the Firm in 1991 and became a Partner in 1999. He was resident in the Firm’s London office from 1992 to 1995. He received his B.S. and B.A., summa cum laude, from St. Louis University in 1986 and his J.D. and M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1991.
