Michael Hartman’s practice focuses on litigation and arbitration concentrating on major marine casualties, transportation and logistics, multimodal carriage disputes (marine, air, road, rail), charter party disputes, shipbuilding and construction, ship financing, insurance coverage, negligence and personal injury matters. His background and experience in environmental law and policy provides him a unique proficiency in handling marine pollution events and oil spills, as well as vessel environmental compliance, permitting and documentation requirements under evolving state, federal and international laws.

Mr. Hartman practices in both the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey. His practice also concentrates on commercial litigation, products liability litigation, environmental and energy law, gas and oil royalty disputes, as well as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and white collar criminal defense, including both domestic and foreign anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws.
