Michael R. Anway

Michael Anway is a senior policy advisor with the Public Policy & Regulation Group in Holland & Knight's Tallahassee office. Mr. Anway counsels clients in the areas of government affairs and public policy, with an emphasis on healthcare policy, Medicaid and the appropriations process.

As a senior policy advisor at Holland & Knight, Mr. Anway focuses on helping clients develop strategies that identify opportunities, avoid risks, create new and innovative advocacy platforms, and promote sound policy and statutory reform initiatives, thereby maximizing the value of a client's interactions with state and federal governments. Through a comprehensive analysis of an institution's unique business and regulatory challenges – in conjunction with an assessment of the current legislative environment – Mr. Anway develops an aggressive, tailored and cost-effective approach for each client that clearly defines the legislative objectives and communication strategies to help them achieve their short- and long-term goals.

Mr. Anway represents some of Florida's largest hospitals in the state, as well as other top healthcare providers before both the Florida legislature and state agencies.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Anway served as the head of Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s Health and Human Services Unit in the Office of Policy and Budget, overseeing six state agencies representing 42 percent of the total state budget. Prior to this role, Mr. Anway acted as legislative counsel for former U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback and legislative counsel for U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns in their Washington, D.C., offices.

After concluding his legislative work in Congress, Mr. Anway served as director of federal affairs for the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) where he managed the development and execution of federal advocacy strategies to achieve the association's policy and legislative objectives.
