Michael R. Gladman

Mike Gladman represents clients in litigation with, and under investigation by, the government.

Mike represented online travel companies in hotel tax collection lawsuits brought by Ohio municipalities, winning a significant Sixth Circuit victory. He also successfully defended an electronic voting system manufacturer against the government’s multimillion dollar breach of contract claims and a mortgage servicer in an Ohio Attorney General consumer protection lawsuit. Mike has also guided numerous companies under investigation by state attorneys general, inspectors general, and ethics commissions to “no action” outcomes.

In addition, Mike is a seasoned commercial construction litigator, focusing on contract, professional negligence, and design misappropriation disputes. He is currently representing United States Steel Corporation in a substantial lawsuit with a demolition contractor.

Mike also litigates energy matters. He was part of a trial team that secured a judgment in the Southern District of New York on behalf of American Electric Power in a power contract dispute that resulted in a $263 million settlement payment to AEP. He has litigated methane gas and wind farm disputes.

In addition, Mike advises clients regarding public bidding and contracting issues, utilizing his experience in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office as counsel to the state’s primary procurement agency.

Mike has helped clients prevail in other complex matters, including a challenge to a retirement system’s authority to change retiree health benefits to save approximately $70 million annually, a multimillion dollar conspiracy claim against a printing company, and a design misappropriation claim against a tool manufacturer.
