Michael Hegarty is a dedicated natural resources practitioner focusing on complex commercial transactions, project development and regulatory compliance in the mining and oil and gas industries.

Mike works with mining and oil and gas clients throughout the United States on matters involving project acquisition, financing, due diligence, construction and operation as well as environmental permitting and compliance.

A significant portion of Mike’s practice extends internationally as well, involving numerous clients and resource development projects and transactions in Asia, Africa, Latin America and elsewhere. For example, Mike was heavily involved in a years-long effort to build a multi-billion dollar copper-gold mine and concentrator complex in the Gobi Desert region of Mongolia, including, among other things, helping the owner to negotiate, draft and finalize capital equipment purchase agreements, project management contracts and on-shore and off-shore engineering, procurement and construction management contracts. At the same time, Mike was also responsible for creating and implementing a reliable, user-friendly contract template program for high-volume, large- and small-value purchases of services and goods during the project’s construction.
