Michael Maizner has over a decade of experience in entertainment labor law. His practice focuses on advising and representing television and theatrical motion picture companies, basic cable networks, new media companies, and advertisers and advertising agencies in the negotiation and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements with the AFM, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, WGA, IATSE, Teamsters, and other entertainment industry guilds and unions. He frequently counsels clients in connection with guild and union organizing activities, signatory relationships, waivers, and the application of industry collective bargaining agreements across multiple media platforms. Mr. Maizner also frequently defends foreign and domestic companies against claims for residuals, excerpt use fees, Supplemental Markets fees, benefit plan contributions, and other guild and union claims.
Mr. Maizner is also regarded as a go-to resource for many production companies and networks on the application and interpretation of child performer laws throughout the United States in connection with dramatic, non-dramatic, reality, documentary, and docu-follow programming. In addition, Mr. Maizner frequently advises and represents companies in connection with petitions for the court approval of child performer contracts.
