Michelle Gillice has over nine years of experience as an attorney at the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). While at CPSC, she was the lead attorney on numerous compliance investigations, recalls, and civil penalty matters involving retailers, importers, and manufacturers. Ms. Gillice also served on a detail as legal counsel to Chairman Inez Tenenbaum, and was selected to lead an interdisciplinary team on all investigations, compliance activities, and education and outreach related to infant sleep products. While under Ms. Gillice’s leadership, the team was recognized with the 2011 Achievement of Commission Excellence Award. She also has extensive experience in matters involving industry voluntary standards, children’s products, testing and certification, flammable fabrics, child-resistant packaging, and labeling requirements under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. Ms. Gillice's experience positions her to advise companies on compliance with CPSC requirements, protect their brands, and defend CPSC enforcement actions.

Most recently, Ms. Gillice served as a senior attorney in the US Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Chief Counsel, Diversion and Regulatory Litigation, where she represented DEA in administrative litigation against pharmaceutical distributors, pharmacies, and practitioners for alleged violations of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Ms. Gillice successfully litigated cases which resulted in decisions to revoke or deny the parties’ authority to handle controlled substances. Ms. Gillice's experience at DEA provides insights on compliance issues pertaining to the manufacturing, distributing, and dispensing of controlled substances and listed chemicals under the CSA and its implementing regulations.
