Michelle M. LeCointe

Michelle LeCointe’s practice centers on providing coordinated strategic assessments for intellectual property portfolios and implementation of this advice through patent litigation, opinions, patent procurement and licensing. Ms. LeCointe’s substantial involvement in international intellectual property protection extends far beyond prosecution of worldwide patent portfolios to include proceedings before the European Patent Office opposition and appeal boards, invalidation proceedings in China and negotiations among multi-national parties.

Ms. LeCointe particularly enjoys working with clients to determine from the outset obtainable goals that also meet their business needs. Ms. LeCointe draws upon the breadth of her experience to provide clients with multiple options to fit their needs and to identify potential complications, with particular insight in areas unfamiliar to many clients.

Ms. LeCointe’s experience in particular focuses on complex issues, such as developing an understanding of difficult technologies, managing highly valuable patent portfolios, establishing joint licensing programs and rescuing floundering litigations.

As an undergraduate, Ms. LeCointe worked for four years as a research assistant in the Department of Immunology at Harvard Medical School. Her work culminated in a thesis exploring the role of integrins in the migration of mast cells, an immune cell associated with allergies, to various tissues. She was awarded the magna cum laude distinction in recognition of her thesis work and other academic achievements.
