Mitchell Decter concentrates his practice in health care law, including transactional, regulatory and litigation matters. He counsels hospitals, health care providers and ambulatory surgery centers on all issues involving this complex area of the law. Specifically, Mitch handles HIPAA compliance issues, hospital-physician joint ventures, negotiation of managed care contracts and reimbursement appeals. In addition, he regularly represents physicians who are served with subpoenas in connection with their forensic examination services. Mitch also represents clients beyond the health care industry with significant mergers and acquisitions.
Mitch has litigated in state and federal courts in such areas as partnership disputes, business litigation, business torts, health care reimbursement issues and insurance coverage. He also has participated in appeals before New Jersey’s Appellate Division. Mitch served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas P. Oliveri, Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity and Probate Part in Hudson County, New Jersey.
Currently, Mitch serves as the president of the Board of Trustees of CASA for Children of Essex County, a court-authorized, nonprofit organization that promotes the welfare of children removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or abandonment.
