Mondi Basmenji

Mondi Basmenji advises clients in complex civil and multidistrict litigation in federal and state courts across the country. She has successfully represented an array of companies at both the trial and appellate levels in proceedings involving pharmaceutical, medical device and other consumer products. She has extensive experience in brief writing and motion practice on dispositive issues, class certification, Daubert challenges and discovery disputes. In addition to representing companies in such proceedings, Ms. Basmenji also has represented the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Product Liability Advisory Council, drafting amicus briefs on their behalf in cases affecting American businesses.

Ms. Basmenji’s matters have included representing:

a manufacturer of building products in multiple purported consumer class actions;
a pharmaceutical company in state attorneys general enforcement actions, consumer class actions and third-party-payer suits;
a professional sports league in connection with personal injury claims brought by former and current athletes;
a medical device manufacturer in multidistrict and state court litigation;
a manufacturer of skincare products in a putative consumer class action;
an international car manufacturer in a putative consumer class action; and
a manufacturer of consumer appliances in multiple purported consumer class actions.

Ms. Basmenji also provides pro bono assistance to indigent individuals and nonprofit organizations. She has represented a death-row inmate before the U.S. Supreme Court and drafted estate-planning documents for patients of the Whitman-Walker Clinic. Additionally, in partnership with the National Center for Access to Justice, she led a team of attorneys who researched the number of civil legal aid attorneys for every 10,000 people in poverty in each state as part of a larger effort to determine where the justice system needs to be retooled so that every individual has adequate access to the courts.
