Murray A. Indick

Murray Indick is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department and Co-chair of the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice.

Mr. Indick has almost thirty years of corporate law and investment firm experience, both in private practice and as partner and general counsel to Blum Capital Partners (1997-2004), and partner and general counsel to Prides Capital Partners (2004-2010). In aggregate, those firms raised and deployed approximately $6 billion during his tenure, and made investments around the world, particularly in small capitalization public companies and privately held businesses. In 2015, Murray was one of just 12 attorneys from the Bay Area named to BTI Consulting Group's list of "Client Service All-Stars."

Mr. Indick’s transactional experience covers a wide variety of corporate matters including venture financings, acquisitions, mergers, leveraged buyouts, private equity financings, fund formation, PIPE investments, corporate restructurings, corporate governance, and compliance programs. He works intensively with early-stage businesses, as they form, seek growth capital and develop their business plans. The work typically involves more than simple legal advice on financing terms; instead, he holistically addresses the key needs of the business for the founders and investors. This legal work frequently involves alternative fee billing arrangements.

He also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to forming investment funds, particularly hedge funds and private equity funds, and to transactional and counseling work for these funds, frequently as outside general counsel. The investment businesses he advises range in size from "startup" money managers to a global investment firm with assets under management in excess of $20 billion.

Mr. Indick routinely works closely with the senior management team and board of directors of businesses. He has served on corporate boards in the past, including public companies Legacy Education, Tigrent, Ameritrans Capital Corporation and QC Holdings. He also serves and has served on boards of directors of start-up companies and major private businesses.

In 2014, Murray became outside counsel to the Los Angeles Clippers, following the NBA's suspension of their owner Donald Sterling, and assisted the team in its transition to new ownership.

Murray received his law degree, magna cum laude, in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree in 1981 from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied history and English and graduated magna cum laude. Following law school, Murray clerked for Judge Walter E. Black, Jr., in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore, Maryland.
