Nancy’s practice focuses on a wide range of employment related issues including wrongful discharge, employment discrimination and virtually all aspects of the employee-employer relationship. She has experience litigating cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 1983, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, the FMLA, the ADA, the ADEA, USERRA, ERISA, and the FLSA, as well as various tort, contract and state law claims including significant litigation focusing on restrictive covenants. She also has extensive experience reviewing and drafting employee handbooks and other policies, providing advice on payment of wages, disciplinary actions and termination, severance agreements.
Nancy has prepared and presented appeals in federal and state courts and presented oral arguments in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. She has also argued to the U.S. Supreme Court. Before joining the firm, her work included traditional discrimination, and retaliation including class actions. She also has handled malpractice claims, various whistleblower claims including qui tam actions, Sarbanes-Oxley actions, white collar criminal defense and several intellectual property cases and claims. She currently practices in complex commercial litigation focusing on matters relating to contract disputes, foreclosures, bankruptcy, negligence, products liability, copyright infringement and common law tort.
Nancy spent time as a prosecutor and also as an appellate public defender. During her time as a prosecutor, she handled numerous criminal proceedings, working closely with law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Nancy also is committed to providing quality pro bono work and volunteers at the Duval County Public Defenders office.
While earning her law degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Nancy was a Scholar of Law and recipient of five public interest scholarships. She was also a Trustee Scholar at Grinnell College. Following graduation, she served as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney in Viera, Florida.
