Neil Cummings

Neil Cummings is a partner in Jenner & Block’s Corporate Department and a member of the Corporate Finance Practice. Mr. Cummings concentrates primarily on domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including acquisition financings for public and private M&A deals (including tender offer financings), bank/bond, bridge loan, first/second lien, multi tranche and multicurrency, fund (including capital call and leveraged lines), sports, mezzanine, subordinated debt, debtor-in-possession and exit financings. Over his two-decade legal career, Mr. Cummings has represented a wide range of market participants, most recently focusing on debt funds.

Mr. Cummings holds dual United States and United Kingdom citizenship. He is admitted to practice law not only in California and New York, but also in England and Wales and Ontario, Canada and has experience working on English-law- as well as US-law-governed transactions.

Described by Chambers USA as “an extremely responsive and creative practitioner” who “understand[s] the market inside and out,” Mr. Cummings is a 1989 graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland Law School, with an LL.M. in public health law from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is a prolific writer on financing and restructuring topics and is a contributing editor covering banking in the Americas for International Finance Law Review. Mr. Cummings is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability. In his younger days, he was ranked one of the top 20 lawyers under the age of 40 in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
