Nikesh Jindal is a counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of King & Spalding. He practices in the firm’s Business Litigation and Healthcare practices. Mr. Jindal has significant experience representing clients in administrative law and regulatory matters in court and before federal agencies. Mr. Jindal has coordinated and led efforts to challenge several agency regulations and has represented clients in investigations before Congress and various Executive Branch agencies. Mr. Jindal has defended clients in several qui tam-related lawsuits and government audits involving government funding programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. Mr. Jindal has particular expertise in issues involving healthcare, higher education and financial regulatory matters.
Mr. Jindal has represented clients before several different agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Treasury, Department of Education, SEC, CFPB, and PCAOB.
Mr. Jindal joined the firm in 2014 after having spent the last 6 years as a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Prior to that, he was Associate General Counsel at the Office of Management and Budget within the Executive Office of the President. In that capacity, Mr. Jindal provided counsel to senior policy officials on legal and regulatory issues arising from several federal agencies, including the Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Education. As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Jindal reviewed significant rulemakings and worked directly with the relevant agencies to resolve any legal issues. Among other things, Mr. Jindal worked on legislative and regulatory policies implementing Parts C and D of Medicare, and other initiatives affecting Medicaid, SCHIP, and the FDA. Prior to joining OMB, Mr. Jindal was the Senior Counsel at the Department of Energy, where he was actively involved in several key Department initiatives, including the drafting of guidelines implementing a multi-billion dollar loan guarantee program for innovative technologies authorized under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
Mr. Jindal served as a law clerk to the Honorable Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain in the U.S. Court of Circuit, in Portland, Oregon. He received his law degree from Yale Law School, where he served as an editor on the Yale Law Journal, and graduated summa cum laude in 1999 with an A.B. in Economics from Dartmouth College.
